Abstract:

Most clinical studies reported in AMIASymposia originate from academic centers, yetthe majority of physicians (85%) practice incommunity hospitals. We are currentlyassessing the information needs of doctors in acommunity hospital in Northeast Georgia. Results from this study may help communityhospitals where most doctors practice.Collaborative research in medical informaticsbetween academic and community hospitalsshould be encouraged, as another type of‘technology transfer’ from academe to thecommunity.
