Abstract:

Twenty-three residents from a university hospital in the Philippines were provided with iPads to determine theirpatterns of use during clinical rounds. Through the study period, usage logs showed that iPads were used to searchfor information 93 times. Most frequent queries involved diagnoses (48.4%) and therapy (37.6%). Convenience andmobility were identified as its major advantage, while slow Internet connectivity and security concerns wereperceived as barriers to its use at the point-of-care.
