There are several ways to assign a program to open a certain file type (file with certain extension). The procedure varies and depends on the OS and privilege you have. Basically, what you need to do are:

  • Register VTT file type with file extension (vtt)
  • Assign VTT program to open VTT file type

On PC, you can take a short cut to take care of both above steps by assigning one VTT file opened with VTT program once. We illustrate two different ways for this setup on a PC run on MS Windows XP. The similar method can be applied in Linux as well.

I. Privilege: Users account (short cut)

  • Click Properties

  • Press Change button on opens with

  • Select the vtt program (by Browse)
  • Hit OK

  • Click Start, and then click Control Panel

  • Click Folder Options from Tools top menu

  • Select File Types tab
  • Press New button to add a new file type
