In November 2014, Ferdinand Dhombres, MD, PhD, joined the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications at the National Library of Medicine. Dr Dhombres is a practicing physician in obstetrics and gynecology at Armand Trousseau University Hospital (Paris, France) with a specialization in Fetal Medicine. He received an MD from Descartes School of Medicine, Paris, France, in 2011, and a PhD in medical informatics from Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris, France, in 2013. He analyzed the added value of ontological engineering for knowledge sharing in Perinatal Medicine. His current projects are focused on standard terminologies for Rare Diseases and Fetal Medicine. His mentor is Olivier Bodenreider, MD, PhD.
