Mr. Lynch has been with NLM for 30 years, serving in a variety of roles. Most recently, he was selected in 2024 to be the Applied Clinical Informatics Branch (ACIB) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Team Lead. In this role he oversees a suite of projects that facilitate implementation and use of the FHIR standard. As part of this work, he has been integral to development of tools and resources that support electronic health data capture and sharing using FHIR. Mr. Lynch is also currently serving as Acting Chief for the Applied Clinical Informatics Branch, in which role he oversees work on healthcare data standards and tools development, development of AI-based tools for clinical data, and the activities of the Center for Clinical Observational Investigations.

Mr. Lynch obtained a master’s in computer science at Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s in physics and mathematics at the University of Maryland.
