Expertise and Research Interests:
James (Jim) Mork, MS, has been named Deputy Director of the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications (LHNCBC) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health. The LHNCBC Deputy Director is a newly created role that will share responsibility with the Director for overall program development, program evaluation, policy formulation, direction, and coordination of all LHNCBC activities.
Mr. Mork brings more than 26 years of experience in biomedical research and production, product assessment, data science, and natural language processing to his new role, as well as expertise in spurring innovation, building relationships, and change management. During Mr. Mork’s career with NLM, he served as the Acting Chief of the Applied Clinical Informatics Branch in LHNCBC, managing strategic direction for the branch and leading development efforts to include the NLM Medical Text Indexing Initiative (MTI). He has been instrumental in launching key initiatives at NLM such as implementing the Center for Clinical Observational Investigations and the FISMA-moderate Environment for Health-Related Data about Individuals (FEHRDI).
Mr. Mork has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Central Michigan University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.
